Élise Drouet
Twenty years at Haras des Capucines, then an estate built from nothing.
Formerly director of Haras des Capucines, Élise Drouet set out on her own and created Le Domaine de l’Étang, in the Alpes Mancelles near Alençon, across two hundred hectares.
2014
Setting out on her own
She wanted to take a further step: to work for herself and build Le Domaine de l’Étang from nothing, with her partner David Salmon, who came from cattle farming.
A farm where no horse had lived
The holding at Saint-Aubin-de-Locquenay is a former suckler-cattle farm. Until then, no horse had ever set foot on the land.
An estate built in her image
Élise Drouet then built up, step by step, an estate given over entirely to breeding and preparing racehorses, across two hundred hectares in the Alpes Mancelles, near Alençon.
The first broodmares
It began with three mares.
Élise Drouet’s first broodmare was a gift from Jean-Pierre Dubois.

- A maiden, granddaughter of Aquarelliste by Invincible Spirit, bought in the winter of 2016-2017.
